The model
PP5200 POWERPAK is a 24 Volt DC power supply designed to provide
sufficient power to operate one FLO-PAK 24 Volt DC motorized valve actuator,
attached to any 8 inch through 72 inch rotational valve, through a minimum
of 10 open/close cycles without being recharged. To understand the built
in safety margin, consider the following: At maximum torque the motor
in the FLO-PAK draws 14 Amps. When fully charged the batteries in the
PP5200 provide that motor with approximately 90 minutes of operating
time. Since a typical open/close cycle takes 5 to 6 minutes it is readily
apparent that there is sufficient capacity for a number of additional
open/close cycles.
Each PP5200
POWERPAK consists of two, 12 Volt, deep cycle, sealed gel batteries
wired in series and trickle-charged by either 120 Volts AC or Solar.
Included is a voltmeter with an LCD digital readout, battery charger
and a standard outlet box located in the NEMA 4X enclosure. All wires
are placed in wireways.

In
addition to the standard PP5200, the following variations are
available:
1. PP5200-S
For Solar-Only Applications
All the features of the standard PP5200 Powerpak but with a "ProStar-12"
Photovoltaic Controller instead of the Ault Battery Charger.
2. PP5200-FS
For the FLO-SAFE
All the features of the standard PP5200 Powerpak plus special relays
necessary to interface with the PLC in the FLO-SAFE Seismic Controller.
3. Increased
Battery Capacity
For additional reserve power; example: when more than one FLO-PAK valve
actuator is powered by a single Powerpak or when non-FLO-LOC valve actuators
are used, the battery size may be increased from 31.0 Ah to 50.0 Ah.
In most cases a battery charger with appropriately increased output
is installed as well.
4. Seismic
Switch/Powerpak Combination
In some cases the Powerpak may be combined with either the FL200 or
FL201 Seismic Switch within a single NEMA 4X enclosure.
5. Powered
by 120 Volts AC
In situations where the FLO-PAK is not part of a seismic safety system
it may be powered directly from 120 Volts AC by replacing the POWERPAK
with a switching power supply (special order with extra lead time).
6.
UPS for 120 Volts AC
A UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) is available which will provide up
to five minutes of operation when the AC power is cut off, allowing
emergency valve closure (special order with extra lead time.)
